So you want to buy a slave?

Slave ownership in Bazgul and Yilan is common and viewed as quite acceptable as long as there is no abuse is involved.

Demon slaves are the most common, while human slaves are uncommon to rare.

First, slave ownership is only open to members of the upper casts (Farm owners, business owners, people of high standing, Merchants and leadershop casts.) these groups of people can afford to keep one or more slaves as farm hands, house maids, concubines and so on (slaves working in brothels for whatever reason must meet standards set by the Slaver Guild.)

So, you are one of the upper casts, you have the money to look after a slave and for whatever reason you want one (We don't judge.) first thing is to go to a Slaver Guild and book a space at a slave auction, there are 4 a month.

You must supply some personal details to Slave Guild clerks (Who you are, how many slaves you already own, where you live, what you do for a living etc etc.) if you are thinking about lying to the clerk who is taking your information please be aware that the Slaver Guild is also has spies and thieves in its employ, take from this what you will.

You will receive a invitation for the next auction when all your information is processed and it is deemed that you are a person that the Slaver Guild wants to sell slaves to, on the day of he Slave Auction you are to present your invitation to the door person, do not send someone else in your stead with the invitation OR show up without the invitation, doing either of these can blacklist you from attending future auctions.

Other things that can get you blacklisted from an auction.
-Showing up in a group; only the invitation holder can attend an auction. if you are worried about being robbed leave your posse outside.
-Promises of future payment; you bring Io with you when you go to auctions, you pay what you owe before leaving, you will be ejected and blacklisted otherwise.
-Side dealing; any deals that involves slaves in any way must pass though the Slave Guild, if you are caught doing a side deal you will be ejected and blacklisted, other people might be ejected and blacklisted too.
-Disturbing other patrons; Don't ask other people in-depth questions about their purchases, casual conversations are fine, even (some) discussion about the slaves on offer is fine, don't take it further than that.
-Don't interfere with the slaves; Don't touch, fondle or have sex with your slave until after you have brought them back to your property, you will be warned against that course of action (ejection if you ignore the warning.) if you are caught in some way hurting a slave (Physical, sexual or verbal abuse.) the slave is returned to the Guild along with a fine. (and maybe some abuse of your own.)
-Don't fight other patrons; this includes shouting at them and hitting them.
-Using slaves as prostitutes; Unless you work for the Temple of Skin (Yilan) or the Prostitution Guild (Bazgul) this is highly inadvisable.

All slaves are checked for disease and deformities and are educated on what their roles will be if sold.

A Note by Zizzik Karn Slave master General;

Some people have visions in their head of slavers chasing down women and children and dragging them away and while this was the way we got slaves once upon a time, but since some slaves have been allowed to go back to Nod as freemen the phenomenon of "Willing slaves" is now the most common way of getting our ships filled.
Now a this has to do with the violent and lawless nature of Nod, horror stories filter though with every shipload about Nods military raping and looting their way though villages for fun and leaving nothing but corpses.
I won't even mention the famine some parts of Nod are currently experiencing.
I guess that these "Willing Slaves" see us as an opportunity to reach a safe haven that doesn't exist in Nod.

Slaves can be freemen if;
-Their master dies and the masters decedents are unwilling/unable to take on the slave for whatever reason
-If the slave is maimed in a way that makes it ill suited for labor.
-If the slave becomes pregnant, this only applies to the mother and unborn child (if the father is also a slave.)*
-The Master allows the slave to leave.
-If there is abuse of the slave while working for the master (can either be set free or resold to a better master.)
Some slaves become emotionally attached to their masters and may not want to leave.

*If the master is father (or mother in some cases.) of the child then the slave involved is kept on, on both accounts attempting to abort the child is an executable offense.
